When poured, a rich aroma of sweet potato immediately rises from the glass. On the palate, full-bodied umami and sweetness unfold, accompanied by a slight spiciness that soon gives way to deep, lingering sweetness spreading across the mouth. The finish is round and smooth down the throat, with the umami flavor resonating long after. The brewery recommends enjoying it with soda water or diluted with hot water to reveal different layers of flavor.

Rihachidō is a limited-edition sweet potato shochu made with sweet potatoes and white kōji, fermented with wine yeast, distilled under normal pressure, and left unfiltered.

The brand name Rihachi was chosen to honor the spirit of the brewery’s second-generation head, Yoshinaga Rihachi. Despite suffering partial paralysis at the age of 36, he continued to protect and carry on the family business through turbulent times. This Rihachidō was created as a tribute to his enduring spirit.
