The 2024 rice harvest faced an intensely harsh summer, yet the Kurodasho area—where Banjo Jozo is located and known as the northernmost limit of Yamada Nishiki cultivation—minimized the climatic impact. As a result, the rice harvested retained its rich aroma and supple texture, no less than in previous years, expressing a calm confidence.
The aesthetics led by acidity—this is the challenge of 2024.
Following Act I and Act II, we hope this release will allow you to truly feel the blessing of the 2024 vintage. At Banjo Jozo, “acidity” is our hallmark, and in this work it has been redefined and elevated into a new expression. The naturally developed acidity during fermentation is not something to be avoided, but rather an indispensable element that shapes the outline of the sake. It is this “tension and lingering finish brought by acidity” that embodies the unique aesthetic we have always cherished.
