A Biwa Lake pearl, the “Biwa Pearl,” is placed within this Junmai Daiginjo, which is bottled using only the most delicate and precious “nakagumi” portion of the sake. By combining the clarity and brilliance unique to nakagumi with Kirakucho’s signature richness and depth, it achieves a Junmai Daiginjo that is gentle on the palate yet profound in character. Elegant and refined in style, it conceals layered complexity and embodies the full essence of Kirakucho’s brewing craftsmanship.
The name “Kore” is derived from the interplay between “core,” representing nakagumi as the heart of the sake, and the Biwa Lake pearl, also symbolizing a “core,” forming the meaning of kirakucho + core. Presented in an original purple velvet-textured gift box, it comes with a ring set with a Biwa Lake pearl and an accompanying pearl certificate, visually expressing the concept of the “core.” This makes it an exceptional choice for gifting or for pairing with special-occasion meals. The project was born from an encounter between Biwa Lake pearl artisan Saiki Pearl of Shiga Prefecture and Kirakucho’s brewery owner, Mayuko Kita. Moved by the pearl’s restrained yet elegant luster, its refined but unostentatious beauty, and its warm texture, the brewery owner felt a deep resonance with Kirakucho’s pursuit of “taoyaka”—supple elegance. This shared sensibility led to the creation of this project. All Biwa Lake pearls used for decoration are personally selected by the brewery owner and finished by Saiki Pearl, inviting you to experience a unique creation that weaves together two “cores” and captures the blessings of Shiga’s terroir.
