With a fragrance as gorgeous as a Junmai Daiginjo, it is completely free from the typical “imo” notes often found in sweet potato shochu, instead offering a refined and elegant style that showcases overwhelming character. From Kagoshima’s renowned Kokubu Shuzo comes the rare sweet potato shochu “Sunny Cream,” now considered a highly sought-after and difficult-to-obtain gem.

Its charm lies in presenting a flamboyance distinctly different from traditional shochu. Crafted with locally grown Satsumamasari sweet potatoes from Kagoshima, and Minamihikari rice from Kirishima for the rice koji, it employs both yellow and white koji. Compared to typical sweet potato shochu, the proportion of rice koji used is remarkably high—an inspiration drawn from the brewery’s popular “Kōji Kura.” Through a unique brewing method and finished with vacuum distillation, the result is a brilliantly aromatic, one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
