The sake bursts with a rich, juicy fruit aroma reminiscent of concentrated grape juice, offering a sweet and beautifully layered flavor profile. Despite being a Nama Genshu, its alcohol content is kept relatively low, creating a light, refreshing drinking experience filled with a distinctly summery character. In addition to serving it well chilled, it is also highly enjoyable on the rocks, which brings out an even cooler and smoother expression.
“Second Summer of Love” is a seasonal summer release introduced by Miyoshikiku in Reiwa 2 (2020). Brewed using a new yeast developed in Tokushima, it showcases the bold and expressive personality for which the brand is known.
The label was designed by illustrator Sonoka Kamegawa, who has created artwork for Miyoshikiku for many years. Rendered with watercolor pencils, the illustration depicts a dreamy and fantastical world that perfectly captures Miyoshikiku’s distinctive artistic style.
As its name suggests, this sake evokes a summer love story filled with sweetness, acidity, subtle bitterness, and a touch of melancholy—like an impossible romance between a mermaid and someone from another world. Even knowing that they belong to different worlds, they still hope to meet again and fall in love once more in another life. The interplay of sweet and tart flavors beautifully echoes this romantic story, leaving not only a memorable impression on the palate but also a lingering emotional resonance reminiscent of an unforgettable summer romance.
